What can we say through comics?
Everything. In anyway we want - us comic writers and artists.
But there is an equivalent deal of participation from the audience who read the comic.
The artists prepares the panels and the audience fill the gap - between the panels, with their own imagination.
Comics are a versatile media. It can adapt all genres of art. This makes it possible to express anything through this media.
I just love this compound medium of knowledge visualisation ;)
Regards to you all,

Yasser,
ReplyDeleteYou have a laudable point. I think comics do serve as great attributes and mode of delivery. I think they facilitate a great deal of social, philosophical, psychological and even ethical implications and definitely have an expansion genre for growth. But I still have some reservations....we are in a one of the fastest era of growth (interms of communication, globalization, travel, modernization..etc), and i haven't seen a genuine progress in comics than the way the fine 'Art' has. (Developments in visual forms). I think the best comics in past have been really great 'Art' exhibits in their own intrinsic manner.

ReplyDeleteYou are right about the fact that comics have remained stagnant for a long time. But in recent years it has progressed thoroughly and as a follower of the issue, I see more magazines using comics or comic illustrations to highlight their point. Lets hope for the best for comics and thanks Murtaza.
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Yasser.
Hala Yasser,
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am not an ardent follower, I believe comics and magazines are definitely places to look for such illustrations, however, what else would you suggest?
Yasser, thanks for your post, comics have a huge potential in visualizing and transferring knowledge. As you said, the audience are as important as the artists, because in the comics, their imagination is stimulated, thus forming their own tacit knowledge out of what is offered. It is a huge field with many smaller sections, such as cartoons and caricatures. Those also visualize knowledge of many types and target a massive audience of differing age ranges and mentalities. good points!
